Habit 1: Be proactive.

Being proactive is the key to unlocking the other habits. Help your teen take control and responsibility of her life. Proactive people understand that they are responsible for their own happiness or unhappiness. They don’t blame others for their own actions or feelings. Proactive people realize that the ball in their court, that they are the captain of their own ship; that they are in control of their decisions, thoughts, choices, decisions, goals, actions, and priorities. Proactive people are self-starters; they don’t wait to be told what to do, they press forward with enthusiasm toward the achievement of their achievement of their duties, their responsibilities, their obligation. Choosing to do what is write is a proactive decision. Obey the rules. Obey the law. Obey the coach. Obey the school policies. Obey your parents. Obey the exactness, and great things will come to you. Be proactive and take the initiative.

Successful Students

5. Don’t sit in the back of the room. Successful students. Minimize classroom distraction that interferes with learning.
Students want the best seat available for their entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their educational dollars. Students who sit in the back cannot possibly be their professor’s teammate (see no. 4). Why do they expose themselves to the temptation of inactive classroom experience and distractions of all the people between them and their instructor? Of course, we know they chose the back of the classroom because they seek invisibility or anonymity, both of which are antithetical to efficient and effective learning. if you are trying not to be part of the class, why, then, are you wasting your time? push your hot buttons, is there something else you should be doing with your ti Successful students take notes that are understandable and organized, and review them often.

A short review of your notes while the material is still fresh on your mind helps you to learn more. the more you learn then, the less you’ll have to learn and less time it will take because you wont have to include some deciphering time, also. the whole purpose of taking notesis to use them, and use them often. the more you use them the more you improve.

sarah's Academic Success Story Part
Sarah’s Academic Success Stor
Part 1
Time management became a key factor in my study skills for college. In high school, there where time I was able to study for an hour or two the night before a test and get away with it. This is not the case in college. I made sure in college I was prepared for each class. Sometimes that meant writing out the terms for the chapter we read (even if when it isn’t required) to better understand them. That way when the midterm or test comes around I was able to understand what I was studying. I started excellent notes in class in college. I may have done this in high school, but in college I started typing up notes after class. This helped me remember what I just went over in class then when I had a test one week later I was more likely to remember then as well.
my overall study method; structured. one thing i learned was i had to adapt or change my study method according to the class. i couldn’t study for a religion class the same way i studied for a finance class. but making sure i had enough time to study for each class -- even if i meant carrying a planner with me at all times was a big part of my success

Student Success Statement
"there is no set path, just follow your heart"
anon

Reflection;this quote means that there is no way for you to follow unless you heart feels you should choose the right path, or you feel that you should take the right step, but other wise if you let other people decide and make your own decision, than its a wrong because other should worry about themselves, just like you worry about your own good.

Work together

Part 1

I can and will work as part of a team as long as everyone in the team is willing to do his work. I don’t like having to pick up the slack, but I will if I know that my grade will be harmed otherwise. My greatest academic success was in my first semester when I had to write a 10-12 page research paper. It was the longest paper I have ever been assigned and I was a little scared. Also, it was the first paper where they were like,  here you go, just write about something. I had to argue in favor of or agents something, but it could be anything from the sky is blue to hypnotism. I wrote mine on hypnotism. I worked on this paper for weeks and weeks. Every night I would be doing research or writing. i put so much effort into this paper. it ended up being just under 12 but it was full on information. i turned it in and when it back a week or so later. i had received a+ of my callege career. all my hard work paid off because i got the grade i deserved. i was really happy and proud of myself.

You can succeed everyday

Part 2

My strategies for written assignments: I try to outline before I write because otherwise I forget what I am supposed to be talking about. I try not to leave them until the last minute because then I will just goof up the work. A lot of times I just write what I feel. Teachers like your opinion and if you can find something from the reading or reaches that relate specifically to your life, they like it even more because it allows you to take ownership of your work. I write thing that I want others to read; not things that I have to write because the teacher said so.

How I succeed in team projects: personally, I do not like working on group projects, especially ones that I worked on in high school. however, when it is required to work in a group usually i try to lead. i like taking the lead because then I know that my grade will be a good one. I do well in school, I always have and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon, so when I need to work with people who maybe don’t really care as much as I do, or they have more time to waste on things other than the project, I try  to be in charge. That way I know that things are going to get done on time and that I am going to get a good grade. If I am working in a group with people who all want to work, then it is a different story.

Student success statement

“I shall pass through this life but one. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall never pass this way again.”

Reflection- this means that whenever you had taken a wrong step that lead you to an unpredictable way, for example having friends who use drugs, alcohol, or like to harm others, this is an example of failure and this quote reflects upon those who have fail, but those who fail and got back up and fight are the ones who will succeed and for me it stands for never make the same mistake twice because it can be worst and it is not worth it.

Academic Success part 1

My great academic success: In my principles of marketing class, we had to come up with a new product and sell it. My group ended up with a couple supposedly bad students according to our teacher since needed since they were the last ones picked. In the end, they helped out more than needed since I was a team leader I assigned them certain pieces of the project that became solely their responsibility. Delegating work always help since it allows a group member individual work without separating the group.

English, math, foreign languages tips: math basically just takes practice. I always tell students to take a blank piece of paper and write everything you know about you’ve learned or what you’re studying for in this class, then you need to study more and review your notes. Note cards work really well for foreign language here are my final words of wisdom for students who want to get better grades in college: go to class, make friends with people in class just in you’re absent, and remember that you should want to learn.
